Para-aramid fibers are a class of very special synthetic fibers, being heat resistant to traction. The excellent properties of paraaramides result from both chemical and physical microstructure.
Thus, the aromatic nuclei in the “spinal cord” of the chain produce a high thermal resistance. In addition, in para-aramid fibers the orientation of the extended chain through the bonds leads to the formation of a polymer.
They are used in:
- aerospace and military applications
- for body armor and ballistic fabrics
- in bicycle tires
- marine armor, etc.
